Care Philosophy

In the modern American medical system, symptoms are typically evaluated in isolation and care quickly becomes siloed. This often leads to devastating diagnostic delays and disjointed care for those living with complex conditions like EDS and its co-occurring conditions.

Here, you are more than a collection of symptoms. My practice utilizes a whole-body, evidence-based approach that treats you as an interconnected system instead of a list of isolated complaints.

By evaluating how your systems interact, we work collaboratively to shorten your diagnostic journey, restore balance, and support your body’s innate ability to heal. My background as an osteopath (D.O.) and board-certified internal medicine physician allows me to combine allopathic therapies with integrative techniques to offer a wide spectrum of treatment options.

Although there is no known cure for these complex conditions, appropriate care and support can significantly improve symptom burden and restore quality of life.

Conditions I evaluate and treat

  • Hypermobility

    Including EDS, hEDS, HSD. It’s much more than just being “flexible.” Many with these conditions live with chronic joint pain and instability, abnormal scarring, and organ prolapse, among other many other potential complications.

    Dysautonomia

    Including POTS. Dizziness, tachycardia, and breathlessness—oh my! Dysfunction of the autonomic (or “automatic”) nervous system is common in people with hypermobility syndromes and can lead to a wide array of activity-limiting symptoms.

    Mast Cell Disorders

    Including MCAS and histamine intolerance. From your gut to your skin to your airways and lungs, mast cells line nearly every part of your body that interacts with the environment. When mast cells go haywire, whole-body inflammation rises.

    Myalgic Encephalomyelitis

    Imagine living with a never-ending case of the flu. That’s what it’s like to live with ME/CFS. This often misunderstood syndrome is defined by a unique symptom called Post-Exertional Malaise (PEM), which leads to significant disability in ~75% of those affected.

    Long COVID

    Persistent health problems after a COVID or another viral infection? You’re not alone. This syndrome can cause over 200 different symptoms and effects around 17 million adults in the US.

    Migraines & Headaches

    People with EDS experience migraines and headaches more frequently and more intensely compared to the general population. In a hypermobile individual, detailed anatomic evaluation can help determine the root cause and optimize treatment.

    Peri/menopause

    For the hypermobile person, it’s more than just hot flashes. During perimenopause, dramatic shifts in hormone levels can often cause symptoms to amplify due to the complex interplay between estrogen, progesterone, and their effects on connective tissue.

    PMOS (PCOS)

    Also known as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, this newly-renamed syndrome effects women of all ages. This metabolic syndrome often leads to insulin resistance, infertility, irregular periods, and more.

    Iron Deficiency

    Low iron levels are often overlooked by providers when red blood counts are normal, leaving many patients with unresolved symptoms including dizziness, shortness of breath, and reduced exercise ability.

    IBS & Gut Dysmotility

    More than half of those living with hypermobility experience chronic GI symptoms. Common features of EDS including tissue laxity, nerve dysfunction, and inappropriate immune cell activation can all lead to digestive chaos.

Megan Anthony, DO

Hey there! I’m Dr. Megan Anthony, but you can call me Dr. Meg. I am a board-certified internal medicine physician, nomadic sailor, and your new hypermobile specialist! I founded this clinic to improve access to knowledgeable, high-quality, and personalized care for hypermobile folks and their unique medical needs.

My motivation for creating this clinic stems from my own experiences practicing as a primary care physician. During that time, I witnessed first-hand how disjointed and dismissive the American healthcare system often is for those living with EDS and related conditions. Care was often dictated by the whims of health insurance companies and hospital administrators rather than the patients’ needs.

I knew there had to be a better way—and that’s exactly why I created this clinic. Now, I get to practice medicine the way I had always imagined: by providing compassionate, comprehensive, and holistic care to all without the restraints of the traditional medical system.
